Step 1: Prep the wall
Before hanging, check that the wall surface is clean, dry, and smooth. Old wall coverings should be removed completely Fill any holes, sand down bumps, and remove electrical coverings.

Step 2: Gather your tools

  • Wallpaper & wallpaper paste (We recommend Roman Strippable wallpaper paste)
  • Measuring tape
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Drop cloth
  • Sponge & bucket
  • Clean cloth
  • Level & straightedge
  • Craft knife with extra blades
  • Paint roller & tray
  • Smoothing tool
  • Step ladder (depending on the height of your wall)

Step 3: Mark your starting point
Measure the width of the wallpaper roll. Our Wallpaper rolls are 70cm wide. Starting from the corner of the wall farthest away from an entry or line of sight, measure the width of the wallpaper minus one inch (to allow for trimming on the wall edge) and mark with a pencil. Using a level, draw a straight, vertical plumb line from the mark against which you can line up the edge of the wallpaper.

Step 4: Apply the paste
Non-Woven wallpaper requires the paste to be applied to the wall, not the paper, making it a quick and easy way to hang wallpaper. Using a brush for corners and edges and a roller for larger areas, apply an even layer of paste, one and a half lengths at a time.

Step 5: Hang your first strip
Lay the wallpaper roll on the floor and pull it towards the ceiling. Line up the first strip with the plumb line (from Step 3), allowing for an inch on both the top, bottom, and edge for trimming. Attach it lightly at the top and make sure that it’s hanging straight. Use a wallpaper smoothing tool to gently work the paper onto the wall, working from the top and middle, down and out.

Step 6: Trim the edges
Using a straightedge and craft knife, carefully trim the edges. You may need to change the blade frequently; it is important to keep the blade edge very sharp to minimize any risk of tearing the paper.

Step 7: Wipe off any paste
After smoothing, wipe down the wallpaper strip with warm water and a sponge. It is very important to wipe off any paste on the surface of the wallpaper as you install it. Leaving paste on the front of the wallpaper too long could cause staining.

Step 8: Apply the remaining strips
Be sure to match the pattern on the wall at eye level and butt the seams tightly up against each other without overlapping them. Avoid forcing the strips together, it’s better to remove the strip and reattach it if the edges do not meet. Smooth out all air bubbles. Wipe again with warm water and a sponge, taking care to remove all the paste from the surface. Rinse thoroughly a second time with clean warm water.
